During colder months, the drop in temperature  can cause metal parts in sewing machines to contract and lubricants to  thicken, leading to increased wear or potential damage. If you've turned off the heat in your sewing room during the winter, it's crucial to add extra layers of cover over your sewing machine to shield it from the cold.

It's essential to avoid letting a very cold sewing machine  warm up too quickly, as the rapid temperature change can  lead to condensation inside the machine.  This moisture is highly destructive, potentially causing rust and damage to the delicate internal mechanisms.
